For this project, we’ll use two stitching techniques: the running stitch and the blanket stitch. If you’re unfamiliar with them, there are plenty of helpful video tutorials online. Now, let’s gather all the materials we need and get ready for this creative DIY adventure!
Materials needed
- Printer & paper to print the sewing pattern
- 1 boiled egg
- 1 egg cup
- Scraps of colored felt
- Needle & thread
- Scissors
- Fabric glue
Let’s get started!
1. Use the sewing pattern provided to cut out the fabric shapes. Pay attention to the quantities needed.

2. Roll black pieces of felt into tiny balls to shape the eyes. Then, glue the eyes and nose into place on the piece of fabric that will become the face.

3. Sew on the mouth and whiskers using a running stitch. Be sure to insert your needle from the back of the felt for the best results.

4. Close the triangular gaps in the face and the back of the head with a simple stitch. This will give them the volume needed to fit the egg later on.

5. Blanket stitch the face and back shapes together. Use a running stitch to attach both ears as you go.
