RA
So, about 6 years ago I saw Ra, his mom, and siblings under a dumpster outside of my boyfriend’s then apartment. I tried to catch them but failed. When we woke up the next morning and checked in on them, they were all gone.
Then, about two months later or so, I was walking through Petsmart and was looking at the cats they had for adoption, and lo and behold, there were the mother cat and two of her kittens – a boy called Ra and a girl called Venus!
Somehow, someone must have found and caught them. Every time I walked away from the adoption wall, Ra and his sister tried to run after me. Well, I decided to adopt them that day. Best decision I made. They’ve seen me through a lot heartache and troubles. I would be lost without them.
LOKI
Loki was rescued — along with the rest of his litter and mom — by my husband. The little kitty was only 8 weeks old and roamed around a military base. While we did not plan on having a third cat, there was no way we wouldn’t keep little Loki after my husband had crawled under buildings and laid out food for days to rescue him.
Loki is now our happy, crazy, and adorable 5.5 month old kitten. His 2 older siblings (Atlas and Freya) quickly took him under their wing and now they are thick as thieves. Loki is our cuddle bug (whether it is with us or his siblings), he loves to play with pompoms, and scales the side of the cat tree instead of climbing it.
CORA
Cora (aka Momma) was found abandoned in a storm drain outside of my work. She had lived there for a couple of weeks before I was able to catch her. After a vet visit, we discovered she was pregnant! A few weeks later, Cora gave birth to 8 kittens. Unfortunately, only 6 of them survived.
We moved across the country from Utah to my home town in Kentucky with Momma and her six kittens when they were about 11 weeks old, and ended up keeping Momma and 2 kittens. 2 of them went to live with my grandma and aunt, and the other 2 are with my parents now.
Cora is the sweetest cat, and we’re so grateful for her and her babies, and the joy they bring us!
SIEGFRIED
I decided I was going to adopt a cat for the first time, so I went to a local cat rescue. What immediately drew me to little Siegfried was his silliness. He was grabbing the tail of the cat next to him through the kennel bars, and would proceed to chew on it. The cat would repeatedly reach out and smack little Siegfried, which would cause the kitten to stop for a few seconds before he would go right back at it. When I held Siegfried for the first time, he cuddled up under my chin. He was 6 months old. He’s now going on 17 and still just as lively and silly, just a bit slower.
ONYX JR.
Onyx Jr. is 5 year old black domestic shorthair. When we adopted him, he was the runt of his litter. He was so sick and tiny! We even had to add cream to his meals for a few months to help him put on some weight. He now is very healthy, and the biggest boy in the house!
We fell in love with him the moment we saw him, and his name was just icing on the cake. My father, who passed away when I was young, had a dog named Onyx. It felt like a sign from my father, so we adopted the little kitty right on the spot!
THACKERY BINX
On October 15th, we took a wrong turn on our way home from a trip and decided to go to the nearest Walmart for gas. There, we heard meowing under a unit, and the worker told us the cat had been there since around lunchtime and it was about 9-10 at night. We managed to get the kitty out from under, but the little one ran off and crawled into the bottom of someones car. We had to open the hood to find him. My mom grabbed hold of the kitty with her jacket and all he did was yowl. We then took him home and decided we couldn’t give him away.
The kitty is turning 2 next October. It was the best spooky month of our lives as we got this sweet black cat we decided to name thackery.
COLMAN
Colman was born in foster care – he was one of 7 babies! Two of his siblings were born with eyelid agenesis, and Colman was born with a cleft palate. This was discovered after he lost 20% of his body weight in his first 24 hours of life. As an experienced neonatal orphan foster, I pulled him and two siblings from his mum (who was in my friend’s care) as they were struggling the most. They required tube feeding – Colman never being able to eat properly. One sibling passed, and the other stayed with Colman. They both received their surgeries once old enough, and by this point we realised that they had found their home with us all along.
